Replacement of Cylinder Head Fixing Pins

Model: Citroen Xsara MK 1 - Years 1997-2006

When replacing the cylinder head gasket, it is good practice to also replace the corresponding fixing pins; however, before installation, re-thread the threaded holes with the appropriate tap (use the thread gauge to select the correct pitch), taking care not to let any swarf fall into the cylinders. Then apply the appropriate sealing paste to the threads and under the head of the pins before installing them, and tighten the cylinder head using both a torque wrench and an angle wrench, following a cross-locking pattern to ensure perfect gasket adherence.
