How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on the Daihatsu Charade DIY

To change the engine oil on the Daihatsu Charade, work with the engine warm but not hot, so the oil drains better. Lift the front end on stable axle stands, engage the handbrake, and open the bonnet by unscrewing the oil filler cap. Position a container under the car beneath the sump, and using the appropriate spanner, unscrew the drain plug, allowing the used oil to completely drain out. While the sump is emptying, you can loosen and remove the vertical oil filter from the engine bay, taking care not to spill any residual lubricant. Before fitting the new filter, lubricate the seal with a thin layer of clean oil and screw it on by hand until tight. Refit the drain plug with its washer in good condition, then lower the car and, using a funnel, fill the engine with the manufacturer's specified amount of oil. Finally, start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and check the level with the dipstick, adjusting it between minimum and maximum and ensuring there are no leaks: the oil and filter change on the Daihatsu Charade is now complete.
