The headlights of more recent cars are made of plastic rather than glass and this material tends to yellow over time due to the action of sunlight, detergents, and aging itself, to the point of compromising night visibility; rather than replacing the headlights, it is possible to restore their shine by performing a specific polishing; this essentially involves wet sanding the surface of the headlamp using progressively finer grit until the surface of the headlamp is uniformly dull; at this point, you can proceed to the actual polishing phase to bring the headlamp back to shine.
