How to Check the Engine Oil Level of a Fiat 500

Periodically checking the engine oil level is advisable to understand if there may be issues with oil consumption by the engine, leaks, or even if the level tends to rise due to possible diesel contamination caused by interrupted regeneration of the particulate filter; the engine oil level should always be checked with the vehicle on level ground, with the engine off but at operating temperature; after starting the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, turn it off and wait for the oil to settle in the sump; at this point, open the bonnet, remove the dipstick, clean it, reinsert it, then remove it again to check that it is wet with oil between the minimum and maximum marks, and if necessary, top up with the appropriate grade of oil without exceeding the maximum level.
