How to change the engine oil and filter on the Fiat 500 L

To perform the oil and filter change on the Fiat 500L, work with the vehicle on a level surface and with the engine warm. Turn off the engine, open the hood, and prepare a large container for the used oil. If you need to work from underneath, safely lift the car before accessing the oil pan. From underneath, locate the oil pan drain plug and position the container. Loosen the plug with the correct tool and allow the oil to drain completely. Once the draining is finished, replace the plug with its seal in good condition and tighten it without excess. Next, move on to the oil filter, which on this engine is of the cartridge type located in the engine compartment. Unscrew the cover of the filter holder, remove the old cartridge, and replace the cover seals if provided, lightly lubricating them with clean oil. Insert the new cartridge and screw the cover back on securely. At this point, pour the new oil from the upper filler neck, adding it gradually. Start the engine for a few seconds, turn it off, and wait a few minutes, then check the level and adjust it if necessary. Conclude by checking that there are no leaks from the drain plug or the filter holder.
