How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on a Fiat 500L

To change the engine oil and filter on a Fiat 500L, slightly warm the engine and turn it off, then safely lift the vehicle and remove any undertray. Position a container under the oil sump, unscrew the drain plug and allow the lubricant to completely drain. Refit the plug with the appropriate gasket, then locate the oil filter, which varies depending on the engine type. Unscrew the filter or open the housing if it uses a cartridge, also replacing the O-ring. Fit the new filter element and lower the car. From the engine compartment, remove the filler cap and gradually pour in oil that meets the specifications for the engine. Start the engine for a few moments, turn it off and wait a few minutes; finally, check the level with the dipstick and ensure there are no leaks.
