Cleaning the Absolute Pressure Sensor

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Cleaning the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor is essential as any residue on the filament could distort the values read by the sensor and thus the injection sequence by the engine management ECU. The sensor is located on the left side of the intake manifold (when facing the engine), just behind the engine oil filler cap; disconnect the connector and unscrew the securing Torx screw; pull the sensor upwards to overcome the resistance of the O-ring and clean the sensor filament with the appropriate spray (protect the sensor hole with paper to prevent impurities from entering). Once cleaned, refit the sensor by pressing it into its seat until fully seated, tightening the respective securing screw and reconnecting the connector.
