How to Replace the Front Brake Pads on a Fiat 500

Remove the plastic cover from the wheel disc and loosen the four bolts. Position the jack correctly and raise the vehicle. Now you can fully unscrew the 4 bolts and remove the wheel. Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew and remove the two pins located inside the brake caliper. At this point, open the caliper and move the side with the piston so it does not obstruct your work. Carefully noting their positioning, remove the old pads along with their metal clips and compare them with your new replacements to ensure compatibility. Next, place the new clips in their slots and fit the new pads, ensuring they are stable. At this point, using a standard pair of locking pliers, retract the hydraulic piston into its housing, taking care not to damage the dust seal (if it is too dirty, clean everything with brake cleaner spray). Now that the piston is retracted, reposition the caliper in its place and screw in the 2 bolts using a 13 mm socket. If the pads have a sensor, the procedure is the same; just disconnect and then reconnect the respective connector, ensuring it is correctly positioned. Refit the wheel, lightly tighten the bolts, and lower the vehicle from the jack. Now you can fully tighten the bolts and reattach the plastic cover. Important! Before setting off, test the vehicle with light movements and gentle braking to ensure everything settles.
