U-Connect Malfunction on Fiat Freemont

The issue with the U-Connect screen malfunctioning on the Fiat Freemont arises because the screen itself is not capacitive (meaning touch-sensitive like modern smartphones), but resistive. This means it requires a firmer touch (similar to the screen of a TomTom navigator). Even a small piece of plastic touching it can cause the screen to malfunction. If any minor work has been done that is unrelated to the screen, and the console has been reassembled incorrectly, then the resistive screen may stop working.
