To remove the gearbox from the Fiat 500, open the rear hatch, as the engine is located at the back of this car. Once the rear hatch is open, begin loosening the bolts that secure the gearbox to the side of the engine: then access the underside of the car to loosen the additional screws that secure the gearbox and disconnect the appropriate connectors. This will allow you to completely remove the old gearbox and replace it with a new one.
