How to Replace the Glow Plugs on the Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel

On this model, damage to one of the glow plugs causes the engine warning light to illuminate and may limit engine performance. Therefore, when one glow plug fails, it is advisable to replace all four. The glow plugs are located at the rear of the engine, and to gain more working space, remove the plastic cover located just below the windscreen, also removing the wiper blades. Since the glow plugs are subjected to continuous thermal cycles, they may seize in their respective seats and break during removal. A tip is to unscrew them with the engine warm to take advantage of the expansion to facilitate the removal of the glow plugs.
