How to restore the transmission control module of the Ford Focus

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) is the computer that manages the operation of the automatic transmission. On Focus models with Powershift transmission, this module learns and adapts over time to our driving style. Sometimes, after a battery intervention, a software update, or due to abnormal transmission behavior, it is necessary to reset the module settings, erasing the old driving habits learned and allowing the transmission to start from scratch. Turn on the ignition, press the brake pedal all the way down and keep it pressed for the entire operation; move the gear selector from "P" to "N" and then back to "P". Repeat this operation three times. Still with the brake pressed, briefly press and release the accelerator. Now turn off the instrument panel. Wait at least a minute without doing anything, then start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. By driving afterwards, the transmission will learn the new settings.
