How do you use a ten-speed automatic transmission? Isn't that a bit too many? Yet the automatic Ford Mustang has 10 speeds: this is because having many gears available keeps the engine in a RPM range where efficiency is higher. This way, you definitely get better performance; the gears are shorter, and the response is improved. In fact, in the 0 to 100 km/h sprint, this transmission is faster than the manual; there is also a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions, especially at a constant speed, although with the Mustang's engine it's hard to get below 6 liters per 100 km (after all, it's a 5.0 V8), and in the city, you move very quietly because the engine never revs up.
