How to Fix the Engine Fault Error on the Ford Kuga MK1

A problem that typically occurs on the Ford Kuga MK1, but also on other Ford vehicles from this period, is the "engine fault" error with the diagnostic error P1900, where the main cause is a soldering defect on the rear connector of the instrument panel (speedometer) and not a true engine fault. The internal solder points, where the connector connects, micro-fracture or oxidise, causing intermittent connection, ghost errors, and warning lights that illuminate without a real mechanical issue; the solution is to dismantle the instrument panel (not shown in detail in the video) and then access the electronic board, where there are 4 metal dots; remove the metal plate and disconnect the display connector. On the back, there are all the solder pins. Clean them well with an electrical contact spray and a soft-bristled brush. If you are capable, redo all the soldering on the connector pins on the board side. The problem is visible: there is often dirt/mould/oxidation or micro-cracks; otherwise, take it to a mobile phone repairer or an electronics technician. Then reassemble the panel, clear the errors, and the engine light will not come back on.
