Adjusting the handbrake on the Ford Fiesta Mk VII is done by acting on the central tensioner, accessible after removing the console. Lift the plastic cover around the handbrake lever (it clips off). Once removed, you will find a nut or screw that adjusts the cable tension.

To adjust, pull the handbrake a few clicks and check the tension. Tighten the nut to increase the travel, loosen it if the brakes are too tight.

After each adjustment, check that the rear wheels turn freely with the handbrake released. The ideal travel is about 3 to 4 clicks.
