How to Change the Engine Oil and Filter on a Ford Ka

To change the engine oil and filter on a first-generation Ford Ka, slightly warm up the engine and then turn it off. Safely lift the car and position a container under the oil sump. Unscrew the drain plug and allow the used lubricant to fully drain out. Next, locate the oil filter, unscrew it using a specific spanner if necessary, and clean the mounting surface. Lightly lubricate the seal of the replacement filter with new oil and screw it into place. Refit the drain plug, replacing the washer if necessary, then lower the vehicle. From the engine compartment, gradually pour in the new oil of the specified type. Check the level with the dipstick, briefly start the engine, and after turning it off and waiting a few minutes, check the level and for any leaks.
