Usually, at least on recent car models, the bonnet lever is located low and to the side, near the door, but this is not the case for older models. On this Ford Fiesta mk5, for example, the bonnet lever is located under the steering column, in the central position (see video): many would never look for it here and indeed find it difficult to locate. Once you pull the lever, you can exit the vehicle and lift the bonnet. This will give you access to the engine, all its parts, and other important components for the vehicle's operation.
