How do you change the gear knob on a Ford Focus? Let’s look at removing and fitting the knob. Hold the knob and rotate it to the left until it comes off the gear lever.

Use a plastic lever to disconnect the leather gaiter frame (if it needs replacing). Once the knob and the protective gaiter are removed, fit the new parts.

Attach the new leather gaiter with clips, then take the new knob and slide it onto the lever in the centre console. Test the correct fitting of all parts mounted on the gear lever.
