This video explains the procedure for checking the actual malfunction and replacing the thermostat on the Ford Fiesta Mk5. First, if the temperature warning light on the dashboard flashes and the yellow temperature light comes on simultaneously, check the coolant level and look for any leaks. The replacement procedure is as follows: remove the battery, battery box, and intake duct. At this point, locate the thermostat and use an 8 mm socket to unscrew the 4 bolts securing it. Naturally, disconnect the 4 hoses and the connector attached to the thermostat first. Simply remove the old thermostat and refit the new one by reversing the steps. A new thermostat costs about £15 online.
