How to Replace the Automatic Shift Knob on the Ford Fusion Mk2

This guide shows how to replace the automatic shift knob on the Ford Fusion Mk2. The first step is to remove the trim cover at the base of the shifter and the rear edge of the center console. Lift the leather trim cone to access the screws securing the knob. At this point, there are two screws at the base of the knob; unscrew these and remove the piece. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the lighting and the shift button. After installing the new part, tighten the screws in place and reconnect the control wiring. Check the proper operation of the shift lever.
