To replace the key battery for the Ford Escape, open the key by inserting a small screwdriver or a plastic tool into the slot on the back of the key. Pry apart the two halves. Once separated, remove the old battery from the remote.

Take the new battery out of the package and position it the same way the old battery was installed until it stays in place. Take the key shell, position it over the other half, and snap them together until you hear a click.

Finally, check the battery's functionality.
