How to Replace the Battery in a Ford Escape

To replace the battery in a Ford Escape, first open the hood and locate the battery in the engine compartment. Using a wrench, loosen the negative terminal and disconnect it, then loosen and remove the positive terminal. Unscrew the bolt of the battery hold-down bracket at the base of the battery and lift it out vertically from its housing. Position the new battery in the same orientation as the old one, secure it with the bracket, and tighten the bolt. Connect the positive terminal first, then the negative terminal, ensuring they are tight, and then close the hood.
