How to Replace the Key Fob Battery in a Ford Escape

To change the battery in the key fob of a Ford Escape, start by extracting the mechanical key inside: press the button on the back of the fob and slide it out. With the key removed, locate the opening notch on the key fob body. Insert the metal key or a small flat tool and gently twist to separate the back cover.

At this point, access the battery compartment. Remove the dead battery and insert a new CR2032 battery, positioning it with the correct polarity.

Reattach the cover by pressing until fully closed, reinsert the emergency key, and verify that the fob responds correctly to commands.
