How to Replace the Key Fob Battery for a Ford Escape

To replace the battery in the key fob for a Ford Escape, press the release button to extract the mechanical key. Insert the tip of the key or a flat screwdriver into the side slot of the fob and pry it open. Carefully separate the two halves. Remove the dead button cell battery, usually a CR2032, paying attention to its orientation. Insert the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Snap the fob back together and reinsert the mechanical key. Check that the buttons are functioning correctly.
