If you have never owned a Ford, you may be surprised to find no lever under the dashboard or along the door pillar to open the front bonnet, as in most common cars; the front bonnet of Fords opens using the ignition key: beneath the front badge is a lock that secures the bonnet; rotate the badge to access the lock, insert the key, and turn it first to the left to unlock and then to the right to release the catch and allow the bonnet to lift.
