How do you remove the GMC Sierra steering wheel airbag?

Model: GMC Sierra MK 1 - Years 1988-2002

In order to remove the GMC Sierra steering wheel airbag, the battery cables must be disconnected, in order to prevent the airbag from activating during the removal phase. Once the cables have been disconnected, the steering wheel can be rotated left and right in order to release the internal retaining clips located at the rear of the airbag. At this point, by disconnecting the connectors below, it will be possible to completely remove the airbag and replace it with a new one; this must be properly connected and fixed in its seat, also connecting the battery cables.
