Removing the steering wheel airbag on a 2021 Fiat 500 X is a simple and quick task to perform independently. To carry out this operation, first disconnect the battery to prevent the system from activating during removal.

Get into the vehicle and insert a flat-head screwdriver into the lower side hole to activate the internal mechanism that will allow you to remove the centre part. Remove the centre part containing the airbag and disconnect the connector.

Once the airbag is removed, you can perform checks and maintenance on the steering wheel. By unscrewing the central bolt, you can also remove the steering wheel itself.

The steps for reinstalling the airbag are also very simple; just connect the centre part of the steering wheel containing the airbag to the connector and push it inwards so that it can latch onto the steering wheel. Once the battery is reconnected, the system will return to operation.
