Steering Wheel Replacement with New Model

First, deactivate the airbag by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the plastic covers around the steering column, then begin unscrewing the retaining screws of the airbag module, accessible through the holes on the sides of the steering column using an Allen key. Loosen the screws and carefully pull off the airbag cover, disengaging the plastic clips. Once the airbag is removed, disconnect the two connectors at the back by releasing the small plastic tabs with a tool. Be careful not to drop the airbag module, keep it away from intense heat sources, do not carry it away, do not shake or hit it, as it may explode. Loosen the screw on the column carefully and remove the wiring. Now you can remove the steering wheel retaining bolt using a 19mm socket. Before removing the nut, mark its position with a permanent marker. Remove the steering wheel by hand, being cautious of the airbag cables. Place the steering wheel on a workbench and remove all accessories to be fitted to the new version. Secure the steering wheel on the column using a torque wrench to tighten the central nut set to a force of 37 lbs (approximately 164 Nm). Use the previously made reference mark to centre the position correctly. Then insert the connector into the designated socket. Carefully refit the airbag. Reconnect the battery and test the new device on the road.
