How to Reset the Airbag Light on Honda Civic

Model: Honda Civic MK 8 - Years 2006-2012

In this video tutorial, you will see how to reset the airbag warning light that has illuminated on the Honda Civic. First, get inside the vehicle and engage the handbrake; insert the key and turn on the ignition; you will notice that the airbag light remains on (SIDE AIRBAG OFF). Turn off the ignition and open the door; under the steering wheel, there is a small plastic cover (which can be removed without tools). At this point, you will see some connectors; the yellow connector is for memory clearing (MDS connector), which is what you need to reset the airbag. Disconnect this cable and using a standard paperclip, as shown in the instructional video, you can restore the airbag function. When the light goes off, remove the paperclip and then reconnect the connector.
