How to attempt to recharge and desulfate a depleted battery

During normal battery operation, lead sulfate forms on the plates; it is a reversible process: during charging, the lead sulfate is transformed back into metallic lead, allowing the battery to store energy. But when left discharged for a prolonged period, or subjected to partial and frequent charge/discharge cycles, a problem arises, and in these conditions, lead sulfate forms hard and insoluble crystals on the plates. These crystals chemically isolate the battery's active material, reducing its energy storage capacity. In this specific case, however, it is worth trying, so it is left for a day in "repair" mode but fails to recharge. Due to parasitic power consumption: a light remains on for no reason, so if we do not use it every day, the battery discharges.
