Instructions for Checking Gearbox Oil Level

Model: Hyundai Elantra J2, MK 2 - Years 1995-2000

The gearbox typically has two plugs: a lower one for draining the oil and one located on the side of the gearbox for filling with clean oil. The oil level is correct when it begins to overflow from the filling plug (flooding system). To check the oil level in the gearbox, simply unscrew the filling plug and see if the oil starts to spill out or if at least your fingertip gets dirty when inserted into the hole.
