To change the engine oil on a Hyundai Elantra, follow these steps. First, ensure the engine is warm but not too hot. Lift the car with a jack to work comfortably underneath the vehicle.

Locate the oil filler cap on the engine and unscrew it. Position a collection container under the oil drain plug on the oil sump, then unscrew the plug to allow the used oil to drain. Once the draining is complete, re-screw the drain plug.

Remove and replace the oil filter using an oil filter wrench. Be sure to apply a bit of new oil to the seal of the new filter before installation.

Then, fill the engine with new oil through the filler cap opening until it reaches the recommended level. Check the oil level using the dipstick and add oil if necessary.

Re-screw the oil filler cap and ensure it is tightly secured. Start the engine and check for any oil leaks.

Finally, lower the car from the jack and dispose of the used oil properly.
