How to Change the Battery on a Jaguar E-Pace

On the Jaguar E-Pace, the battery replacement can be performed while maintaining power to the control units via an external source, reducing the risk of resetting settings and memories. Before starting, secure the vehicle, turn everything off, keep the key away from the car, and work with the bonnet open using insulated tools to avoid any accidental contact between the positive terminal and ground.

Connect a stable external 12V source, such as a maintainer/power supply or a starter with support function, ensuring correct polarity and connecting to the appropriate points in the engine bay or directly near the battery without forcing the wiring.

The goal is to keep the vehicle powered while working on the main battery terminals, so check that the connections are solid and that the cables are positioned to avoid obstructing removal.

Remove any protections and covers that hinder access, then free the battery from its retaining fixings. At this point, disconnect the battery terminals in the safest order, carefully managing the wiring present on the negative terminal (on systems with battery monitoring, there may be sensors or dedicated connections).

Move the terminals so they cannot come back into contact with the poles and proceed with the extraction of the battery, being mindful of weight and size. Install the new battery with the same specifications as the one removed and correctly reposition brackets and covers.

Reconnect the terminals correctly and securely, ensuring there is no play, then disconnect the external source only when the new battery is in service and all fixings are completed. Finally, check for any abnormal warnings and verify the starting; on some versions, it may be useful to register the battery in diagnostics or perform a system management realignment, especially if the vehicle has Start&Stop functions or battery monitoring.
