When discussing issues with the Ingenium JLR, the focus is on the diesel engine: the first problem involves the counter-rotating shafts due to abnormal wear of the bearings, and the second concerns the timing chain, which tends to stretch. These issues manifest between 18,000 and 62,000 miles and often require an engine replacement, frequently caused by regeneration problems. According to the manufacturer, servicing can be done after 21,000 miles, but it occurs that the particulate filter undergoes forced regenerations, even every 186 miles, mixing oil and diesel in significant amounts, thus contaminating the oil, degrading its properties, and necessitating servicing after just a few thousand miles. This certainly causes both of the initial faults mentioned and explains why this problem does not occur systematically for everyone, but only for those who predominantly use the vehicle in urban areas. The main solution is to change the oil every 6,200 miles.
