How to Remove the Starter Motor on a Jeep Cherokee

Let's see how to replace the starter motor on a Jeep Cherokee. First, use a socket to disconnect the battery power cables. Remove (with a socket and needle-nose pliers) the soundproofing panel from the engine along with any attached cables (if present). Disconnect the power terminals of the starter motor using pliers or a screwdriver depending on the pressure of the tabs; unscrew the securing bolts of the starter motor with a socket and remove it from the engine bay. Finally, install the new starter motor with the power cables and the associated securing screws.
