Resetting the oil change light on a Jeep Cherokee is a routine operation that should be performed after every oil change and filter replacement. This forces the sensor to take a new reading, which will permanently turn off the warning light.

To do this, ensure the vehicle is completely off before starting the procedure. Then, press the "Start" button three times in a row and do the same with the accelerator pedal.

At this point, the light reset has been successful and you can turn off the ignition or proceed with driving.
