Replacing the Key Battery on Jeep Grand Cherokee 2010-2021

If you think it’s time to replace the remote battery for your Jeep Grand Cherokee because it only works from very close range or not at all, you’re in the right tutorial. Before you begin, you will need a new C2032 3V battery and a slightly robust flathead screwdriver. The first step is to remove the metal ignition key from the body by unlocking the small clip on the remote. Next to the metal key housing, there is a slot where you should insert the screwdriver to lever it open and separate the remote into two parts. Unlike many other remotes, the battery is not housed on the motherboard but on the other half. The final step is to remove the old battery with the screwdriver and reposition the new one. Ensure that when you finish the operation, you reassemble the two sections of the key correctly without leaving any gaps.
