Let's see how to replace the bulb that illuminates the gear selector of the automatic gearbox on a Jeep Cherokee. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry at the edge of the frame around the gear selector, detach it from its clips, and rotate it upwards to disconnect the electrical connector of the traction selector and completely free the frame.

This gives you access to the area under the selector where you will find the bulb holder, which you will detach with a slight rotation. You can then pull out the burnt bulb and replace it with a new one, preferably a high-efficiency type.
