How do you open the fuel cap on the Jeep Renegade if the locking mechanism of the flap is faulty? You can see it in this video. Normally, the lock opens via an electronic solenoid, but if this fails or if the battery is flat, there is still a method to open it. Enter through the boot, and you will see a small hook on the side of the flap: turn it and pull it towards you using the cord inside.

Let it hang and go to the outside: the flap is now open. Once you have refuelled, return inside and put everything back in place in case you need to use it again.
