In this video, we can see how to disable the electric handbrake on the Jeep Renegade. Essentially, we will put it into "maintenance" mode so that we can work on the rear brakes if necessary. The handbrake automatically engages whenever we turn off the ignition. However, if we start the vehicle and press the brake pedal, we can disengage the electronic handbrake by pressing the button and continuing to hold it while turning off the ignition, keeping the brake pedal pressed. Then, release the brake pedal and the electronic handbrake button, and you will see that the handbrake is not engaged on the instrument cluster.
