First, we need to put the lever in neutral position, then we need to lever the frame around the boot, in order to remove it from its housing. When it is free, then we pull the knob towards us with force, in order to remove the knob and boot in one go, so that the shaft remains bare. In this way we can place the new boot and knob in its place.
