In this video we see the problem of the trunk lid of the Range Rover Sport not staying raised. It is an extremely common problem, but fortunately it often has a simple solution.

The problem is caused by the gas struts of the trunk, which are subjected to heavy loads and over time lose internal pressure, causing them to no longer have the strength to support the weight of the tailgate. The struts can be easily found on internet platforms: on auto-doc. It the EAN code 5902048140548 costs 10.49 euros (each) + 9.95 euros for shipping.

For the replacement work, let's get help from a friend, because the tailgate is heavy. We open the trunk and block it in the raised position with a wooden rod; we remove the retaining clips and slide the struts out of their supports.

We position the new ones in the same position and insert the new clips. We repeat with the other strut, carefully remove the support and test the tailgate.
