How to Change the Front Brake Discs and Pads on the Mazda CX-5

Model: Mazda CX-5 MK 1, KE - Years 2012-2017

To change the brake pads and discs, follow these steps: Start by lifting the car and removing the wheel. Using a 14mm spanner, remove the bolts at the back of the upper plate holding the pads in place. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry off the pads, then use a socket to remove the plate that holds the pads. Insert an 8mm bolt into the hole on the disc and tighten it until the disc is secure. Use sandpaper to remove rust, apply metal paste, and compress the brake piston with pliers to make it flush. Take the new disc, place it on the hub, and use a nut to hold it in position. Clean the bracket and its components with a wire brush, apply grease to both the bracket and its components, then reattach the bracket to the disc by tightening the bolts. Place the pads, spreading some pad paste on the ends, and reinstall them; also tighten the upper part of the caliper, put the wheel back on, and lower the car. Finally, press the brake until it feels the same as it did before the change and check the brake fluid.
