Where to Find the Legal VIN of the Mazda CX-5

The legal VIN of a vehicle is stamped on the vehicle's chassis. This is what you will need to show to the DVLA during inspections or to the police if they decide to carry out a cross-check with your vehicle's registration document. It is not the label placed on the driver's side corresponding to the windscreen. That is just a courtesy label used to move the vehicle until it has a registration plate. In the case of the Mazda CX-5, the VIN is located under the mat on the passenger side, beneath a plastic label that lifts up to easily reveal the complete 17-digit chassis number.
