Removing the Airbag Control Unit

Model: Mazda 3 MK 2, BL - Years 2009-2013

To remove the control unit that manages the airbag operation, first disconnect the battery. The component is located under the handbrake. In most cases, you should remove the entire centre console, but here it is sufficient to carefully pry around the panel near the handbrake lever and the small glove compartment. Once you have released all the clips on the four sides of the panel, you can pull it out and start unscrewing the screws of the control unit. Open the cover that surrounds the component and disconnect the three electrical connectors by pressing on their respective tabs. Car model: Mazda 3
