Let's see how to reset the airbag on our Mazda 3: usually the warning light turns off on its own by resolving the physical problem that caused it, but in case a direct intervention is necessary. For example, we should be able to check the yellow connectors under the front seats. Or the clock spring (the spiral spring) located in the steering wheel, may have worn out over time. Interrupting the connection to the steering wheel airbag: even a low battery voltage can cause temporary errors. The safest method to solve the problem is an OBD2 tool, but cheaper ones often fail to read the airbag module (RCM). The tool in the video can be found on fruugo. It has the code 372530985-806770523 at a price of 26.95 euros + 9.49 euros for shipping. We connect the scanner, note the error code that will tell us exactly what the problem is and after the repair we delete the error code. Sometimes it can also work to disconnect the battery for half an hour, pressing the brake pedal multiple times to reset the ECU. The recommendation is however not to ignore the warning light, which is there for safety reasons; clearing the error without solving the problem is useless.
