In the event of a frontal collision resulting in the deployment of the driver's airbag, it must be removed from the steering wheel to replace it with a new one. The airbag control unit will also need to be replaced or reset by clearing the crash data from its memory. Removing this airbag is extremely straightforward, as it is bolted to the spokes of the steering wheel and not attached with a spring system. Locate and remove the caps behind the steering wheel spokes to unscrew the airbag's mounting bolts. At this point, pull it away enough to disconnect the connectors and complete the removal.
