This video shows how to replace the number plate lights on the Mercedes GLA 250: this model has one light on each side. There are two ways to perform this operation: the first is to remove the panel from the inside and reach in to take it out. Alternatively, you can do it from the outside by using a hook tool to lever off the light units.

It is a bit more complicated due to the central handle, but at least you won't need to remove the rear panel. Disconnect the electrical connector; here you cannot change the bulb, you need to replace the entire light unit, which can be found, for example, on emmeffeauto.com with code 1016500 at a price of £24.79 for a kit of two light units.
