The malfunction of the remote control key is often attributable to a desoldering on the electronic board of the remote control which must therefore simply be restored. Furthermore, since the key has to be completely removed, you can take the opportunity to replace the remote control covers, easily available in after market (generally the key or "blade" is also supplied, which must be subsequently encrypted). The first operation to do is to unhook the battery compartment cap and extract the two batteries present (check the voltage with a tester and replace them if necessary). Then separate the two remote control shells paying attention to the plastic pin and the spring present. Then extract the electronic circuit, check the integrity of the microswitch and resume the welding of the battery support support (cantilevered part with respect to the circuit). At this point, insert the batteries and check the operation of the remote control before reassembling it. Then reposition the electronic circuit in its shell, position the plastic pin in the key (there is only one mounting position that allows the tooth on the pin to match up with the groove on the key), then insert the spring into the pin so to have it hooked to the bottom and then hook the other end to the cover and finally couple and press-fit the two covers. Check the spring operation of the key, insert the batteries and the relative cap and test the operation of the remote control.

How do you replace the battery of the BMW R 1250 GS?

In order to replace the battery of the BMW R 1250 GS it is necessary to loosen the bolts that secure the casing positioned on the left side of the bike, so that its cover can be removed. Once this has been removed, you will be able to access the components below, including the battery. The latter must be removed from its housing by disconnecting the power cables and unscrewing the appropriate fixing bolts. In this way it will be possible to insert a new battery, properly fixing it and connecting it to the relative cables, covering everything with the casing.
