Removal and cleaning of the EGR valve on a Mercedes M-Class

Let's see how to clean the EGR valve of a Mercedes Class M: it is considered a complex operation, not suitable for a beginner, and the most difficult part is reaching the valve; to have enough space it will be necessary to remove the central panel of the engine compartment, the side panel, the large airbox covering the air filters, and other components, such as the turbo bracket. To remove the EGR valve, disconnect the electrical connector, remove the coolant tube, unscrew the two fixing bolts (one is easily visible, while the rear one is more hidden). The valve is often stuck with carbon deposits; in the video a very rough system is used to separate it from its seat: it is recommended to use more patience. The valve will be full of carbon deposits, so we will have to clean it mechanically, check the opening/closing mechanism and lubricate it; inspect the gaskets and eventually replace them. For reassembly, first reattach the coolant tube to the valve; insert the valve into its housing, screw the bolts back in and reassemble all the removed components.
